Drums of the night, an initiative that integrates the areas of Spanish Language, Social Sciences and Artistic Education.
In order to bet on interdisciplinary projects in which the transversality and comprehensiveness of the learning acquired by the children is evident, the pedagogical strategy is born, which seeks to promote the recognition and identification of the subjects from their cultural roots, through the appropriation of the poetic work of Jorge Artel, a poet from Cartagena.
This project rescues the historical value of the drum as a communicative element that summons masses and transmits messages.
It also seeks to map the origins of the drum and Afro culture, so that through knowledge of the culture, students can improve their personal value within society.
It also seeks to strengthen relationships of rootedness and dignity in the children, understanding dignity as the condition of each member to be respected and valued as an individual and social being.
Colegio Pies Descalzos Lomas del Peyé has a large Afro-Colombian population, which has allowed us to see a great cultural richness, reflected in the dance, music and lyrics that express the customs and identity of Cartagena.
It was in this context that the launching of the project took place, with artistic presentations of poetry declamation, dance and singing. We thank the teaching and administrative staff who made this beautiful day possible.
