"Undernutrition during pregnancy and childhood greatly impairs people's long-term learning capacity." Unicef, 2006.

Research has shown that "hunger significantly reduces opportunities for individuals and countries, and therefore slows development, causing deaths, mental and growth retardation", Unicef, 2006.‍

That is why we partnered with the Nourish the Children Foundation , to ensure that the children we accompany have a nutritional program that not only provides follow-up, but also manages to generate a culture of health and self-care as the main objective.

During the school year, height and weight measurements are taken at the Pies Descalzos Schools. Based on this measurement, visits are made to the homes of children who are thin or overweight, with the purpose of accompanying the nutritional processes at home.

During these visits, a multivitamin supplement called VitaMeal is also provided to complement the family's diet. Along with the supplement, a recipe booklet with preparations of typical dishes of the region using VitaMeal as the main ingredient is delivered.

The measurements that have been taken have shown that in terms of nutrition, the students of Quibdó are the most affected.

There, 88% of the student population had nutritional problems during 2016, so now students start their school day drinking juice based on the multivitamin VitaMeal.

Today we want to thank Nourish The Children, and the donors who make this nutritional work possible. We want children and youth in Colombia to have access to quality public education, where nutrition is a vital part of a comprehensive set of educational processes and tools.
