Scholas Citizenship is conceived as a strategy to touch the soul of young people, bring them closer to their reality and promote participation.

This initiative, of the International Organization of Pontifical Right created by Pope Francis, seeks to generate spaces for the solution of everyday problems.

There, the language of soccer is used as a strategy to reach young people and capture their attention; and the sport is used as an excuse to motivate them to self-discovery and thus recognize themselves as actors of healthy coexistence.

During the first visit of the International Organization of Pontifical Right to the city of Barranquilla, healthy coexistence was encouraged through proposals based on the context and social problems of the community. Thus, for this second visit, we continue with the process already started and we intend to provide students with tools for peace building.

With the support of the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla, the I.E.D Fundación Pies Descalzos- La Playa was the main venue for the development of the activities; and both academic and sports spaces were placed at the service of the community.

102 young people from different schools in Barranquilla participated in this activity; 9 of them were ninth grade students.

Pope Francis also participated through a simultaneous videoconference in several countries, as well as the Secretary of Education and the Mayor of Barranquilla.

There were 3 days of multiple playful-pedagogical activities where the participants had fun learning while generating awareness of values and the importance of the tools we must have to build a peaceful future together.
