Sports are a fundamental part of an educational model that has quality as its highest priority. Through sports, children and young people learn important values and skills such as self-knowledge, discipline, honesty, tolerance, solidarity, respect, teamwork and healthy coexistence.

These skills prove to be very important for the social, cognitive and professional development of students, and at the same time develop good physical health habits.

Sports skills turn out to be very important for the social, cognitive and professional development of students, and at the same time they develop good physical health habits. According to child psychologist Annie de Acevedo , "practicing a physical discipline or exercising from an early age serves to activate all the brain functions that are indispensable for their general cognitive development," in addition to teaching them skills and knowledge that will be of great help throughout their lives.

To contribute to the development of these skills, at Pies Descalzos we support physical exercise activities in which students are involved, such as the participation of the Pies Descalzos Foundation - La Playa school's female team in the edition of the Supérate Games, 2017. On this occasion, it is the first time that the teams achieved the highest recognition in the pre-juvenile and juvenile categories, being elected as district champions.

We want to recognize the work, effort and dedication of the sports teacher Nelson Arturo Palomino Hernández, who has accompanied this process and thanks to the quality of his work has achieved such a position. We also congratulate the students who with discipline and commitment achieved this important goal. Now the challenge will be to represent the district of Barranquilla in the departmental championship.

What are the Supérate games?

The inter-school games are part of a national public policy project, with a focus on inclusion that allows the development and practice of sports throughout the national territory at decentralized levels: Departments, Capital District, and Municipalities. All this, through the promotion, implementation and execution of sports practice, which contributes to the comprehensive education of children, adolescents and young people between 7 and 18 years old; framed in the Ten Year Sports Plan, Departmental and Municipal Sports Plans.
