Shakira, Barefoot Foundation and Education Above All sign agreement to benefit 54,000 children in Colombia
During the World Education Innovation Summit, held in Doha, Qatar, Shakira announced the partnership between Fundación Pies Descalzos and Educate A Child. This agreement, which will last three years, will aim to provide educational access and permanence to 54,000 children in Colombia.
The two foundations signed an agreement so that 34 thousand Colombian children outside the school system can have access to education and another 20 thousand primary school students at risk of dropping out of school can stay in school. Mozah Bint Nasser, former Sheikha of Qatar, agrees with the work that the singer has been doing and showed her interest in contributing to the education of children in Colombia, through Qatar Foundation and Education Above All Foundation.
The project resulting from this agreement is called "ALL TO SCHOOL"; it will be developed in Barranquilla, Cartagena, Chocó, Medellín and border areas such as Guajira, Norte de Santander and Arauca, and will also contribute to the construction of an early childhood center for 300 children between 0 and 5 years of age.
