The first phase of the Nuevo Bosque and Villas de Aranjuez projects, two new educational institutions to be located in Barranquilla and Cartagena, respectively, began last month.
We thank the Ministry of National Education and its Educational Infrastructure Financing Fund; the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla; the Mayor's Office of Cartagena; the FC Barcelona Foundation; the La Caixa Banking Foundation; the Costa Crucero Company; the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation; the LCI Educational Foundation and the Swiss Embassy in Colombia, because without their participation it would have been impossible to initiate these new projects that symbolize the dream of educating and caring for our children, thus cementing the path to peace.
In Barranquilla, this project will become a reality in one of the most vulnerable areas, located in the Nuevo Bosque neighborhood, where its inhabitants have been victims of crime and inequality. This institution will be built in an area of 6,000 m²; thanks to the investment of more than $14,000 million pesos.
Also in the Villas de Aranjuez neighborhood, located in the Bicentennial City, the construction of another new educational institution will begin in an area of 14,500 m². With an approximate budget of 14,000 million pesos, this project aims to bring quality education and community development to the inhabitants.
Today our dreams are growing and becoming a reality in the commitment and generation of opportunities, with the consolidation of this important alliance of private and governmental entities that make possible the development of high quality education programs for the children of our communities immersed in poverty.
