País Móvil, an initiative of the Partnerships for Reconciliation Program of the United States Agency for International Development-USAID, arrived at the Pies Descalzos school in Cartagena.

The initiative, together with Estrategia País and in alliance with the National Center of Historical Memory, generates a mobile platform for communication, education, culture and production of audiovisual arts that will be at the service of the construction of memories and reconciliation in five municipalities of Colombia: Cartagena, Santa Marta, Ciénaga, Apartadó and Turbo.

The platform works with a bus that will travel for 6 months working on the construction of community memories, awareness and mobilization, support for the peaceful resolution of disputes, the provision of meeting scenarios in respect for similarities and differences, the reconstruction of the social fabric, the projection of possible futures, coexistence and the generation of trust.

Within this context, the País Móvil team proposes the visual narrative workshop that seeks to propose a visual and narrative reflection in relation to the environment, memory and life stories of the inhabitants of the communities through which the project passes. The development of the workshops has as its central axis this reflection and deepening from the different ways of generating visual narratives, seeking to expand the panorama of why tell, plan, investigate and produce our own stories.

The País Móvil bus made a stop at the Pies Descalzos School - Cartagena, where students received technical knowledge of storytelling and photography through field work, in which they chose stories from their surroundings and told them through photographs.

The young people were very interested in these three days of work, especially in how the media can be used in the development of reflections that have more to do with the community itself and its problems, rather than with the aesthetic purpose of a photograph.

The team of workshop leaders ended the day very satisfied with the critical capabilities shown by the students of the institution. Thus, from the Barefoot Foundation we thank all the institutions mentioned above for involving our students in the development of workshops that provide significant experiences to the community.
