The project, called "Music for Peace and Coexistence", aims to create a musical band to contribute to the integral formation of students, opening a space that promotes the development of skills through theoretical and practical elements of musical training. Thus, students will strengthen their auditory system, the expression of feelings and ideas, memory, as well as develop their motor, artistic-creative and socio-cultural and linguistic integration skills.

 The development of artistic skills in students is becoming increasingly necessary, both to broaden the spectrum of future opportunities and to transform their present through art, music and culture," says Patricia Sierra, executive director of the Pies Descalzos Foundation. "All forms of expression through art - and for this occasion, music - allow us to narrate stories and contexts with the intention of understanding, making visible and expressing their present and their past to generate new meanings".

Multiple studies have shown how art has been attributed the function of representing the reality of different periods of humanity, as well as expressing emotions, transmitting sensations and thoughts, interpreting and transforming realities (See: Valderrama, Herrera, Sánchez Fernández; UNITAR).

 At the Foundation we believe that the Music for Peace and Coexistence project allows students to have varied musical experiences that contribute to their development while they enjoy quality education, play and peaceful coexistence. We are sure that this is a project that will soon bear great fruit," says the executive director.

The project, framed within the educational proposal of the Pies Descalzos Foundation to support and strengthen quality education in the country, seeks to position girls, boys and young people as part of an institution, a community, a city and a country through art and culture.
