More than 3,108 million were invested between the Pies Descalzos Foundation and the Ministry of Education to build and renovate educational institutions in Riohacha and Uribia, in the department of La Guajira, and thus contribute to the quality of education.

As part of the agreement between the two organizations, two schools were upgraded and renovated:

  • In the municipality of Riohacha, the Jose Francisco Pushaina Ethno-educational Institution No. 24 was inaugurated, a project that includes four classrooms, toilets, a dining room and a kitchen, providing essential conditions for dignified and quality learning.value of the work: $1,152,469,930.
  • On the other hand, in the municipality of Uribia, the Marco Tulio Montiel Uriana Ethnoeducational Technical Agricultural and Livestock Institution reopened its doors with a completely renovated infrastructure. The work included dormitories, bathrooms, improvements to existing facilities and furniture for 27 classrooms and a library, making it an example of how investment in education has a positive impact on students' lives. Value of the work: $1,956,317,222

These projects are part of the alliance between the Ministry of Education and the Pies Descalzos Foundation to strengthen the educational infrastructure in La Guajira, and represent the importance of joint work between the public and private sectors to guarantee the well-being and development of the children and youth of La Guajira.

 Likewise, the constructions are part of the actions that the Pies Descalzos Foundation carries out in the territory. To date, the organization has advanced projects that contribute to school access and permanence:

  •  "Todos al Cole", which has benefited more than 13,418 children with school kits, school uniforms, support for their families in the school enrollment process and support for reinforcement and strengthening in mathematics and language;
  • Reading strategies that strengthen students' reading comprehension, and
  • "Circles of Care", which contributed to guaranteeing the initial education of children between three and five years of age who are migrants, returnees and Colombians, in order to achieve integration into the educational system and the challenges faced by their families.

 The Foundation's work is also reflected in other infrastructure interventions in other municipalities such as Manaure, Albania and Maicao. In addition, support has been provided to more than 300 public schools throughout the country, thus strengthening access to quality education for vulnerable communities.

‍"When we start any project at the Foundation we have the responsibility and objective of guaranteeing that every peso invested translates into real impact. Today that we are visiting the constructions and interventions that we carry out together with the Ministry of Education and other allies we see that they are tangible proof of what can be achieved when we join efforts, work with transparency and build with the community at the center of our decisions."
