Within the framework of the post-conflict that our country is currently experiencing, we want to accompany and promote the processes of reconciliation, peace and tolerance that our educational community is experiencing.

The passage of the war in Colombia left thousands of victims throughout the territory, being Chocó one of the most affected areas. For this reason, in recent days, the city of Quibdó, capital of Chocó, commemorated the day of solidarity with the victims of the armed conflict. For the development of the event, some victims of the armed conflict, officials, social organizations and students from some schools in remote areas, among them, the Maria Berchmans - Pies Descalzos school, headquarters of the Antonio Ricaurte school, gathered at the Malecón de Quibdó, on the banks of the Atrato River, for the development of the event.

Within a symbolic and cultural act, organized by the territorial direction of Chocó and the Victims Unit, the recognition and commemoration of all those people affected by the war in our country took place. Within this act, the main protagonists were the students, who through artistic and cultural displays, highlighted the importance of providing support to human beings affected by violence, thus recognizing their rights and dignifying them.

At the Barefoot Foundation we believe that a quality education can break the cycle of poverty, and thus improve the future of children in Colombia. However, we also firmly believe that education is not only given by an academic curriculum, but must also be mediated by tools for life; tools that make us more tolerant, more caring, more conscious and inclusive human beings; thus being able to live in a peaceful country.
