Educational Institution Gabriel Garciá Márquez

Located in the town of Altos de Cazucá in the municipality of Soacha, where most victims of displacement and poverty are from: Boyacá, Santander, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Huila, the Pacific Coast and the Llanos Orientales.

The Pies Descalzos Foundation has been supporting the Public School since 2005 and through various educational projects now serves 1,340 children and 814 young people and their families.

The first head of the school, located in the neighborhood of Villa Mercedes has six classrooms, a dining room and a computer room. Thanks to the management of new resources, the Foundation was able to build an additional seat in the Minuto de Diós School, which has 5 classrooms, a playroom, a music room and a computer room. In the two sites, there are 36 teachers, 2 coordinators and the licensed Rector is Elvia María Rodríguez Ibáñez.

So far three classes of students have graduated.
